Good to see the great housing debate we have been calling for since the criminalisation of residential squatting explode across the comments section of the guardian, we hope all other media take up the discussion.
Lets have some common sense there are 1.5 million empty buildings in the Uk that could be creating homes,community/ eco projects and employment.Through the renovation and repair of these spaces and recycling them back into public use.

Street homelessness has doubled since the law that criminalised the most disadvantaged in our society, preventing them from sheltering themselves in some of the up to 900,000 empty residential buildings (empty homes agency figures)
NB it is still legal to squat and shelter in some of the 600,000 non residential /commercial buildings, shops, warehouses factories, community centres libraries, post offices, churches, pubs etc etc. .
We call for the repeal of sec 144 Laspo act a despicable law, that is unfair, unjust, undemocratic and will prove unworkable.
We need to talk solutions and actions. This housing crisis has been created by keeping these untold buildings empty.
We need all groups concerned to sit in big circle and discuss the concrete action to provide homes for all ,using these spaces will bring down the massively inflated rents that sees most londoners paying 50-60% of their wages on rent.
There is much more to say but got busy day tomorow here are some usefull links,
looks like the debate is stirring internationally as well just got emailed by the volks Krant german media

The above article shows how corrupt our democracy has become, landlords and estate agents groups buying new laws.
The anti squat law is killing many people who have frozen to death over this winter,in the squatting community we are the safety net after all else has failed for many people.

After we occupied Mike Freer MPs constituency yard to stimulate this housing debate, here is some info on him.

Hopefully i will ask the guardian if we can do a fuller article laying out the wider debate and hopefully outline the solutions we all need to co-operate on, further into th 21st century we will look back and say did we really have 1.5 million empty buildings and let people freeeze to death on the streets, forward the solutions and action, support your local squat.
